Boal
The Boal cultivar is perhaps more elusive in the determining of its origins, except that they did descend somehow from the Bordeaux district of medieval france
. The first century (1500 - onwards) in the planting of the cultivars did not reach the heights it would have been expected to raise in the 18th century, so the Boal was not documented in any serious form. The cultivars of Boal, Sercial, the Bastardo, and the Verdelho were all introduced from vines on continental Portugal.
